A Plague Tale: Innocence is already a cult classic just two years after its initial launch and the atmospheric survival game definitely has built a dedicated fanbase in that time. Hype for the series is continuing to grow now that the game's sequel Plague Tale: Requiem took the stage at E3 2021 and gamers who missed the original may be looking to get caught up before that title arrives in 2022.

Luckily, there may be some ways to do that without dropping the cash for a brand new retail copy of Plague Tale: Innocence. With so many gamers subscribing to services like PS Plus and Game Pass, it's always worth double checking the available game libraries and monthly free titles available before heading to a storefront (digital or physical) to pay full price. Although games available through the subscription services aren't truly free (subscriptions cost money, after all), they are already included in the monthly or annual fee.

Some rumors that dropped ahead of E3 2021 suggest that Plague Tale: Innocence is going to be one of the free games for PS Plus subscribers coming in July 2021. The rumor is closely linked to the same source that predicted the new-generation remaster, which ended up being real, so many people are assuming this prediction is going to be accurate as well. The fact that the new-gen version release date perfectly matches the date when the next round of PS Plus free games will arrive is also giving some hopeful PlayStation players more reason to believe.

Is Plague Tale: Innocence On Game Pass?

Yes. Plague Tale: Innocence was added to Xbox Game Pass (console and PC) on January 23, 2020. The title is still available through Game Pass as of late June 2021. At this point, there has not been official confirmation about whether the Game Pass version will upgrade to the new-generation version free of cost for Series S and X owners when it arrives in July.

Is Plague Tale: Innocence a PS Plus Free Game?

Early predictions for the July 2021 PS Plus free titles are guessing that Plague Tale: Innocence will be included, but that has not been confirmed by PlayStation at this point. The next free game rotation is expected to arrive around July 6, so confirmation of the titles will probably come a few days before then. At this point, there is no way to play Plague Tale: Innocence for free on PS4 or PS5, but it sounds like PS Plus subscribers may want to wait a few weeks to see if that changes in early July before spending any extra money.

If Plague Tale: Innocence pops up for free or at a great price anywhere else, we'll be sure to post an update here.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will launch on July 8th 2021.
