The developer of A Plague Tale: Requiem is asking fans not to spoil the plot of the upcoming game. While the developer encourages discussion of the game, they still want players to be able to experience the story for themselves. Furthermore, the developers ask that people interested in playing A Plague Tale: Requiem mute certain words, so the plot won't be spoiled.Taking place during the Hundred Years War and the height of The Black Plague, the first game crossed realistic history with some fantasy elements. The story focused on a brother and sister who attempted to make their way across rat-infested/war-torn France as Inquisitors of the Catholic Church pursued them for unknown reasons. Well received by critics, A Plague Tale: Innocence went on to sell over a million copies worldwide, and a sequel was put into development.RELATED: A Plague Tale: Requiem File Size RevealedAs with the previous game, the upcoming sequel will feature a lot of rats. It had previously been revealed that A Plague Tale: Requiem will have as many as 300,000 rats on screen at once, but actual plot details have remained a bit vague, and the developer wants it to stay that way. In a recent post, the developer of A Plague Tale: Requiem asked that gamers not spoil the story so others may experience the story to its fullest.

What constitutes a spoiler for a video game, television show, or film has been a hotly contested debate for years. However, regardless of what actually qualifies as one, story details sometimes leak out against the developer's wishes. One of the more famous examples of this was the leaking of a main character's death in The Last of Us: Part 2, which developer Naughty Dog wanted to remain a surprise until the game was released. While A Plague Tale: Requiem has managed to avoid these kinds of leaks, it still clearly wants to keep the story details close to the chest until the official release date.

Details on the plot are mostly still on the vague side, but fans do know the general premise of A Plague Tale: Requiem thanks to the story trailer and other sources. The story takes place six months after the first game and once again follows Amicia and Hugo as they navigate war-torn France. This time around they're trying to reach an island that supposedly will be able to cure Hugo of his ailments. What the journey will involve, however, remains to be seen, and if the developer has its way, that will be the case until fans experience it for themselves.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is available on October 18 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
