Vitalis Boss Fight: First Phase

Amicia and Hugo must reach Vitalis before the fight can truly begin. To advance, players must use Exstinguis to put out the flames ahead. This requires the player to be very accurate with the sling, which skilled gamers may have mastered when getting started with A Plague Tale: Innocence. At the same time, Hugo's power must be utilized to counter the approaching whirlwinds of white rats.

Vitalis Boss Fight: Second Phase

Hugo is an important part of this fight, so players should prioritize drawing Vitalis's attacks towards the edge of the arena so Hugo's actions aren't canceled. Vitalis will start by raising a pillar of white rats that crash down on Amicia's position. After Hugo's attack renders Vitalis vulnerable, the player can launch an attack at the boss.

Vitalis Boss Fight: Third Phase

Starting with the third phase, players will notice a stream of white rats burrowing into the ground. Immediately after this, they will burst out of the ground underneath Amicia. Again, players should bait this attack towards the edge of the arena so that the resulting rat whirlwinds don't interfere with Hugo. Moving just before the rats emerge from the ground will keep Amicia safe, too. Before Hugo can attack Vitalis again, the player will have to extinguish fires on the ground.

Vitalis Boss Fight: Fourth Phase

In the final phase, Vitalis will use both his pillar attacks and underground attacks from previous phases. Players will have to be observant to see which attack the boss is utilizing and react accordingly. Afterward, fires must be put out again and then Hugo can be commanded to attack. If Hugo's rats connect, the player will just have to land one final hit to claim victory in one of the best horror game boss fights.
