Nintendo has just announced that Pikmin 3 Deluxe will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 30, 2020. While many are excited at the prospect of playing the cult-classic series on Nintendo's hybrid console, some fans are less than enthusiastic.

While not all fans are upset, many believe that the port shows that Nintendo truly has no new games prepared for the console this year, with Pikmin 3 Deluxe slated for the October slot, a slot normally dedicated to fairly big, new titles (Luigi's Mansion 3 in October 2019, Super Mario Party in October 2018, and Super Mario Odyssey in October 2017, respectively).

Many Twitter users have been tweeting out an image of a broken and/or dust-covered Switch console with the same text, reading: "Really, this is all we get this year, a port? I just bought a second Switch because I wanted to have a little faith in you guys. Looks like I was wrong. Goodbye, Nintendo." This trending tweet is obviously a response to Nintendo's lack of new titles this year, with the Switch seeing far less games in 2020 compared to previous years.

Other fans are upset at Nintendo as they have seemingly removed Pikmin 3 from the Wii U Eshop, making it essentially impossible for fans of the game to buy the original title digitally.

Looking back on Nintendo's release schedule in 2020, it's clear that the console has seen better years. So far, the hybrid system has only seen a handful of first party releases: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore in January, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX and Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition in May, Clubhouse Games in June, and both Deadly Premonition 2 and Paper Mario: The Origami King in July. Out of all of these titles, two are ports and one is a remake with only a few brand new games, making the announcement of Pikmin 3 Deluxe feel comparatively weak.

Not all fans are upset, however. While there are a lot of upset tweets, there are also plenty of positive ones too. Many fans are just happy to see the series come to Nintendo's current console, with some believing that the port means a re-release of Super Mario 3D World, or better yet, the highly rumored Super Mario 35th Anniversary Collection, are still possible. Some fans are even becoming more hopeful of Pikmin 4 with the announcement of Pikmin 3's port. The series is notorious for taking a long time in between releases, but Nintendo has stated in the past that Pikmin 4 is quite far in development. Fans will just have to wait and see.

Once again, Pikmin 3 Deluxe comes to the Nintendo Switch on October 30, 2020.
