With the Switch, Nintendo has found significant success that it failed to generate with the Wii U. Since so many more gamers purchased a Switch that never bought a Wii U, Nintendo has made it a point to port some of the Wii U's biggest games to its new console. Now it seems that this lineup will include Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

This report comes from Jeff Grub of VentureBeat, known for having insider information on the gaming industry. Grubb mentioned Pikmin 3 Deluxe in a report about Paper Mario: The Origami King, which was recently announced as an upcoming Switch exclusive. Grubb noted that Intelligent Systems "only oversaw" the development of Fire Emblem: Three Houses so that it could focus on Paper Mario: The Origami King, and that other Nintendo studios will have games ready for release soon, including Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

Details on what a Pikmin 3 Switch port will entail are hard to come by, one has to imagine that it will be largely the same as the Wii U version, but maybe with some new content and features. If the game exists, one has to imagine that it was going to be announced as part of Nintendo's big June Nintendo Direct presentation, though that may not actually take place.

Rumors are that Nintendo was going to host a big Nintendo Direct in June to replace its planned E3 2020 presentation. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has apparently forced Nintendo to push back its plans, though nothing official has been announced so far.

Besides Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Nintendo was also expected to announce a slew of Mario games at its June Nintendo Direct. This would have included the aforementioned Paper Mario: The Origami King, along with the long-rumored Super Mario 3D World Switch port. Additionally, it would include a collection of Super Mario 3D remasters, consisting of Super Mario 64Super Mario SunshineSuper Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Whether or not any of these rumored announcements actually come to pass remains to be seen. However, games like the Super Mario 3D collection and Pikmin 3 Deluxe have been leaked by multiple reliable sources, to the point that it would be more surprising if they weren't announced at this point.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is rumored to be in development for the Nintendo Switch.
