Pikmin 3 Deluxe is filled with a variety of tricky enemies and bosses that players will need to utilize their captains and Pikmin against. The game's final boss, the Plasm Wraith, is no exception to face in the Formidable Oak. Spoilers ahead for the ending of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

As the Plasm Wraith is the final boss of Pikmin 3 Deluxe, there are many different tasks such as collecting fruit that can be done before it. Players are free to take their time raising Pikmin and doing whatever they feel is necessary to prepare. However, players still need to keep an eye on how much juice they have in their storage.

In order to unlock the location of the Plasm Wraith, players will first need to save Louie from the Quaggled Mireclops in the Garden of Hope. This will allow players to travel to the Formidable Oak in order to save Captain Olimar.

When coming to the Formidable Oak, players will find the Plasm Wraith trying to absorb Olimar, causing them to attack the creature with their Pikmin. After that, players will need to get through the Plasm Wraith's Mysterious Life Form phase as they are chased through caves.

Once players manage to get to the bottom of the cave system, the Mysterious Life Form will recapture Olimar and turn into the Plasm Wraith. Players are recommended to have a team of mostly, if not all, Rock Pikmin with the captain initially going into the battle. However, it is also recommended for players to have at least one captain on the side with a team of all other Pikmin types due to later phases of the battle.

Players will need to throw Pikmin at the Plasm Wraith's stomach in order to cause its exterior to fall off. Then, players will need to have the Pikmin attack the fallen pieces on the ground, or else the boss will reabsorb its health. The reason why Rock Pikmin are recommended is due to its needle arm attack that will skewer any other Pikmin. The more knocked off its body, however, the smaller in size the Plasm Wraith will get.

After the Plasm Wraith loses a quarter of its health, it will spew large plasm puddles around the arena before spitting out a cube. This cube has an elemental hazard, so it is wise to call away all Pikmin when this phase begins. Players will need to bring out specific Pikmin types in order to fight different hazards:

  • Bubble of water surrounding cube - Blue Pikmin
  • Molten cube with floor of fire - Red Pikmin
  • Electric barrier and high in the air - Yellow Pikmin
  • Glass cube - Rock Pikmin

After players destroy one of these cubes, it will leave behind more plasm. Players need to destroy this before 20 seconds pass, or else the Plasm Wraith will reabsorb it. When it's down to a quarter of its health, the boss will create three cubes at once as well as gain a new flying form that can only be targeted by Flying Pikmin.

Once the Plasm Wraith's health turns red, it will begin to run away instead of attack. The less health it has, the faster it will become. Once it is defeated, players will have officially beaten Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is available now for Nintendo Switch.
