Following Pikmin 3 Deluxe's recent announcement of coming to the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has dropped tons of content for the upcoming game, including its official box art, a slew of screenshots, the total file size, and more.

Some have been criticizing Nintendo for chugging behind other companies like Xbox and Ubisoft who have held their own conferences in place of a canceled E3 event, while Nintendo has no confirmed Direct event planned for the foreseeable future. While the Nintendo Direct Mini that lasted less than 10 minutes showcased a few small projects, it looks like the Japanese games company has decided to follow a similar format to Paper Mario: The Origami King and surprise announce Pikmin 3 Deluxe via Twitter, with a release date set for October 30th.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is a rerelease of the original Wii U game but will implement some new features and content along with all of the DLC. A new side-story mission that follows Olimar and Louie as they traverse planet PNF-404 will be a new addition to players already familiar to Pikmin 3. Along with new difficulty settings and the ability to play the game at a more relaxed pace, the full upcoming game will total to 6.5 GB of space on the Nintendo Switch. The Pro Controller will be supported and the game and several languages will be supported, including English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, and Chinese.

Several screenshots of the upcoming release have also been unveiled, detailing the main story, showing off Olimar with his Pikmin following him and assisting his quests, and some combat moments have been shared as well. Additionally, the title screen for Pikmin 3 Deluxe has been shared.

While Pikmin is a cult-classic series to gamers of the millennial era, not everyone was happy about the announcement for Pikmin 3 Deluxe coming to the Switch, particularly because the October slot is normally saved for "big" titles like Super Mario Odyssey in 2017 and Luigi's Manion 3 in 2019.  Still, Pikmin 3 received favorable reviews at the time of its original release, and lovers of the GameCube era of Nintendo are nonetheless excited for the port to the Switch, mainly due to the Wii U not reaching successful purchase numbers.

But the timing of the announcement was possibly not just a coincidence. Pikmin 3 released for North American players on August 4th in 2013, so it's quite possible that Nintendo had the announcement planned for this specific date.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is set to release on October 30, 2020, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
