Pikachu is trending on Twitter, and it is for a reason beyond the Pokemon character’s usual cuteness. Rather than the Pokemon developers giving Pikachu a new hat in Pokemon Sword and Shield, the reason for the character’s Twitter trend is a bit more obvious.

With a big Pokemon announcement teased for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, gamers and regular watchers alike found out exactly what the teasers were for. Seen in the massive lineup of parade balloons was none other than Pikachu himself, dashing along other super-sized characters from pop culture. Rather than being another static balloon, however, massive Pikachu costumes were worn by a skilled dance troupe, with the Pikachu performing for an adoring audience of onlookers.

The Pikachu were clearly feeling the Thanksgiving spirit, as the group gave viewers something to be thankful for with their adorable dance moves. Moving side to side and wiggling their incredibly adorable heads, the Pikachu dancers moved along to the classic Pokemon theme song. With a few dancers joining the group of Pokemon dressed as Ash Ketchum, the performance was a perfect way to capture the hearts of fans all around the world.

While Pikachu is not the only video game-related Twitter trend this week, as the PSP was trending on the social media platform just a few days ago, the performance is certainly deserving of all the love. Adoring fans of the Pikachu dancers were quick to acknowledge how hard it must have been to pull off the dance moves, as the big feet and heads on the bulky costumes could not have been easy for the dancers to deal with. The cuteness did not end with the dance, however, as Pikachu could be seen holding the hands of the other dancers when leaving the stage.

If the dance and handholding were not lovely enough, the struggle of the Pokemon to get to and from the event is even more endearing. Seeing the Pokemon stuck on a staircase is too cute, with the character’s face being squished in by the railing. With doorways being equally troublesome for those in the bulky suits, it would be hard for even the grumpiest person to not let out a smile when seeing Pikachu try to move through a door sideways. Both a great bit of fun and a way to push people to download popular Pokemon games, the Pikachu performance is sure to be a highlight of Thanksgiving Day for many.

While many gamers are still waiting for updates on Pokemon Snap, this Pikachu dance should be a good distraction from the demands regarding an update. Thanks to the unforgettable performance, a lot of people may be in the mood to “catch ‘em all” over the next several days.
