Captain Jean-Luc Picard has made his return in the newly released trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Picard. Paramount Plus recently dropped the trailer for their hit original series and fans are more than thrilled. Patrick Stewart's Captain Picard first returned for his own series back in 2020. He is arguably one of the most iconic and popular characters hailing from the Star Trek world to this day. Yet, Picard has some competition due to the fact that the villain Q has revealed his return, with even more devious plans.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 is set to expose and follow the events that unfolded in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The first season showcased Stewart's Captain Picard helping the daughter of Data discover a planet filled with artificial life. The first season ends with the captain skillfully avoiding a group of Romulan operatives from completing their mission to wipe out the ‘fake’ planet. Despite the Captain’s victory, he still, unfortunately, fell to his illness soon afterward.

Picard had been battling a terminal illness throughout the season and it finally caught up to him, leading fans to assume he may not be returning. Yet, the captain remarkably makes an outstanding recovery due to his consciousness being confined and safely kept in a golem. However, Star Trek: Picard's season two trailer brings a newfound sense of mystery and teases. This is especially dire given that the upcoming season’s first trailer left loose ends.

The general plot of the Star Trek series' second season is largely unknown. The new trailer starts with Q sending Picard and all of his fellow crewmates to an alternate timeline. Q makes an inevitable come back and in the trailer, Picard responds to his presence by saying, “I am way too old for your bullshit.” Time-traveling will be a must, as Picard struggles to save the world yet again from a totalitarian society.

The Picard season 2 trailer goes on to show clips of the Captain completing a very challenging time traveling process in which he must return to the earth of the 21st century in order to rectify the future. Fans will be relieved to hear that season 3 of the Star Trek series has officially been confirmed. With all of this chaos and cryptic timelines, who knows what’s in store for season 3.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 is set to debut and be available for streaming on Paramount Plus sometime during February of 2022.
