Star Trek: Picard is about to deliver an absolute treat to fans. For the third and final season, Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) will be joined by his old Enterprise crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Star Trek: Picard is Stewart's first appearance as the character since 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis. Though he is now 20 years older, he still finds himself wrapped up in galactic affairs. Now, he's bringing his old crew around the bend one last time. The Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer showed The Next Generation cast going on one last adventure together as they're being chased by a mysterious new enemy.

The official Star Trek Twitter account showed a new poster for Picard season 3. The official account (ominously or nostalgically, depending on your persuasion) captioned the poster with, "The final voyage." The sleek poster showcases every member of the Enterprise, from Picard (of course), to Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton), to Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden).

The season will consist of 10 episodes and will be the last season of this series. Picard explored what happened between The Next Generation and its current state, so it is not inconceivable that more will be revealed about Picard's former shipmates during the time between Picard and their last appearances. It's been 20 years, so there's likely to be some catching up to do.

Star Trek: The Next Generation had some traumatizing moments, so, likely, the Enterprise reunion won't necessarily be an entirely happy one. There will be plenty of drama for fans to look forward to, and perhaps some peril as well. It's certainly possible that not every member of the Enterprise will make it out unscathed. Given Patrick Stewart's comments about wanting to play Picard again, it's unlikely that the titular character will die (though Stewart could be talking about flashbacks).

Perhaps some other Star Trek: The Next Generation characters will show up to greet their old friends (and foes). Though several actors who last appeared on The Next Generation have sadly passed, others are still acting and could very well show up again. Still, the writers of Picard may want to keep nostalgia to a minimum and focus on an original story.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 will begin airing on February 16, 2023, on Paramount Plus.
