Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that a fan-requested Quick Resume feature is being considered for Xbox Series X/S consoles. Quick Resume is a quality of life feature for the Xbox Series X/S that gets players back into their games without wasting time, but in some cases this has been known to backfire depending on the type of game. There have been plenty of updates regarding Quick Resume since the launch of the Xbox Series X and S that have continued to improve its functionality, such as one that keeps chosen Xbox games in Quick Resume despite going over the limit of games available under the feature. Another was an update to the UI that displays what games are compatible with Quick Resume and which are not so that players will know preemptively, rather than being surprised by a game not working. As a result, the newly requested Quick Resume feature would fit nicely under this umbrella of recent updates.RELATED: Xbox Game Pass Loses 10 Games, Adds New Day One Release TodayPhil Spencer responded to a player on Twitter regarding a suggestion for how to improve Quick Resume on Xbox consoles. In their tweet, the fan praises Quick Resume as an amazing feature, but then expresses their confusion with why it can’t be turned off, at least for certain games. This is because Quick Resume is not compatible with multiplayer only or live-service type games, meaning any game that requires the player to be connected online. When returning to the online game using Quick Resume, the process will actually kick the player from its online connection, which forces them to reboot the game. This ends up taking longer than it would have, as there are now extra steps involved before the player can play the game, unless they remember to close the game before booting it back up so it does not start under Quick Resume.

Spencer responded to the tweet in question by saying that the suggestion makes sense, and that it has been added to the list of things that Xbox will be looking at on how to improve the consoles with future updates. It is great to see the head of Xbox using his social platform to engage with the Xbox community, as it shows a level of transparency that is not normally seen from such big companies, especially seeing as how Phil Spencer plays video games himself.

Fortunately, this Quick Resume issue is only a minor inconvenience, rather than a groundbreaking problem. Even so, the inconvenience goes against what the feature attempts to accomplish, so a fix towards this in some capacity would be welcomed in future Xbox updates. Despite this, Quick Resume remains a useful console feature.
