Phasmophobia is a horror game that was released in the middle of September and gained a lot of traction. In the game, you play as a ghost hunter who is trying to discover what ghost is inside whatever haunted location that they are brought to. While the game itself is very fun and spooky, there are many things that could be added in the game to take it to the next level. Some of these things include new maps inspired by real haunted locations, some are new items that have also been used by ghost hunters, and some are more jump scares to make the game spookier!

10 Thermal Camera

While there is already a night vision camera in the game, ghost hunter in real life often use thermal camera to try and see ghosts.  Thermal camera often help see the ghosts figure as it enters certain areas and moves around.

Usually ghosts give off a blue hue on the camera because they have such a cold temperature. A thermal camera in Phasmophobia would give off a chilling vibe to see a figure moving without truly seeing the figure physically

9 Mirror Jump Scare

Phasmophobia mirror

One of the most infamous horror rituals to ever exist is "Bloody Mary". In the ritual, someone stands in front of a bathroom mirror with the lights off and repeats the phrase "Bloody Mary" three times.

After that a woman ghost covered in blood appears in the mirror to scare the person doing the ritual. Currently in the game, the only thing that can be done with the mirror is find fingerprints. With a mirror jump scare, ritual or not, it would make the game 10 time scarier than it already is.

8 Haunted Boat Map

While the game already has plenty of spooky maps, a good idea for a map is a boat. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, one of the most haunted places in the world is a boat called the Queen Mary. This boat is known to be investigated by many ghost hunters to try and find evidence of ghost activity. Another reason for a boat map is that boats at night are often very eerie due to the ominous noises. A boat map could have a lot of potential for sailor ghosts and jump scares with pipes blowing.

7 Sprinting/Ghost Sprinting

When playing Phasmophobia, it's common knowledge that the player does not move very fast, even when pressing shift. Even when you die, you move rather slow throughout the game. Sometimes it can be crucial to getting away from a ghost that is trying to kill the player. Moving slow can be somewhat of a bother to players if they are trying to go somewhere on bigger maps like the school, asylum or prison. Especially on the big maps, there are many rooms to explore for ghost activity it would be nice to move a bit faster to be able to explore more.

6 Haunted Hospital Map

While there is already an Asylum map, a haunted hospital map would be a good addition. In hospital, there are often times where deaths can be inevitable. There are also places in the world where old hospitals are haunted by the patients that used to reside there. Even nurses have died in hospitals after catching a sickness that their patients had. There is a lot of potential in a hospital with nurses and patients haunting a hospital.

5 Backstory To Ghosts

In the game, there is always a prompt for the ghost that is being investigated. A lot of the time there is a brief description of the ghost with a fairly common name. It may be cool to add a bit of a backstory on certain ghosts to show how they died or what trigger them to come out, other than just saying there names. This would make the game a lot more realistic and scary for the player and also adds a bit of an emotional element if the ghost died in a tragic way.

4 Dead Teammate Interactions

Whenever a player dies, there is not much interaction that the ghost player can do with the alive players. With more dead teammate interaction it may make the game more fun for players that have died and players that are alive.

Some dead interaction may be being able to still use items, hold items that appear on the map, and possibly being able to jump scare the alive players. This would make the game more fun for both parties involved and bring more involvement to players that have died.

3 Haunted Graveyard Map

An outdoor map may be a cool and different map that could bring a new level of creepiness to the game. In the real world, there are many people who fear graveyards because of their eeriness. In each one there are hundreds of dead bodies throughout the land. Even ghost hunters visit them because they believe that spirits roam around there because that is where their corpse is. There are also many pictures of ghosts walking in graveyards which could be very spooky for the game.

2 Recorder

In real life ghost hunter, investigators use recorders to try and ask questions for the ghosts to answer. Sometimes ghosts talk without people being able to heard the actual answer, so the recorder helps hear answers after the fact. Adding this into the game would make the game a bit more realistic and it would also make it so the player has to wait to see if they get an eerie answer from the ghost. As well as the fact that it gives the ghosts more depth.

1 Ghost Interactions with Items

While ghosts can be very spooky as it is, in many horror movies, ghosts have been shown to throw items and move items throughout the time people are around them. It would be very creepy to have the ghosts be able to throw items like cups and silverware. Something else they could possibly do is move furniture around the house or map whenever a player leaves a room. This could also help a player determine what type of ghost is in the area.
