To help Phasmophobia players ready for spooky season, here is an easy way to make sure the crucifix is working properly.

Phasmophobia has been getting a lot of traction recently as one of the most popular must-play horror games for Halloween thanks to YouTubers and Twitch streamers. Players work in groups of four and hunt down different types of ghosts that each have their own specific ways of tracking them down.

One of the harder to use items in the game, the crucifix, can only be used against certain ghost types in Phasmophobia at a specific time. To help beginner Phasmophobia players with this entry barrier, here are tips on how to use the crucifix so that the whole team can make it through the night.

One of the first mistakes players make is using the crucifix directly on the ghost when its right in front of them. As much sense as this makes, the crucifix is sadly only effective before the ghost enters its "hunting phase."  The crucifix's main purpose is to use it to locate the room that the spirit is located in. Players need to place the crucifix down on the ground to prevent the ghost from coming out and killing all of the players.

Players should also keep in mind that while the crucifix can be used against all ghost types, it is mainly effective against warding off Banshees. Players will know when they are dealing with a Banshee when there is an EMF level of 5, freezing temperatures, and there are fingerprints as evidence. It is ideal for traveling in packs when dealing with a Banshee since it targets individual players at a time.  If the spirit is located in a larger room, it is recommended that players grab more than one crucifix to effectively trap the ghost in the room since the crucifix only has a range of about three meters.

If the spirit is already in the hunting phase before players can put down the crucifix, it is recommended to hide during the hunting phase and hope for the best. The crucifix is only meant to be a precaution before it enters the hunting phase. If players are unfortunately past the point of no return, then it is game over.  Hopefully, this guide helps educate new Phasmophobia players with tracking down one of the many different types of ghosts they will encounter in this game.
