Ever since its inception, indie horror game Phasmophobia has been a one-man show, but 25-year-old UK indie developer 'Dknighter' is now ready to expand the development team. As of writing, Dknighter has added two new members to the Kinetic Games team: an experienced artist and a programmer, both of whom will be working on Phasmophobia.

On the game's Steam page, Dknighter explained that Phasmophobia's growth in popularity and in the scope of upcoming content plans means that it's time to expand the formerly one-man developer. The new additions to the staff will be helping Dknighter work on future content, including adding even more new ghosts to Phasmophobia now that the Yokai and Hantu have been introduced. They will also be helping to refine and expand the game's existing content.

Alongside this announcement, Dknighter also delivered on the major game update for Phasmophobia that had been teased last week. This update not only brings the Yokai and Hantu ghost types into the game but also adds a variety of other new features, including new daily challenges, a way to reset corrupt save files, a profanity filter for user and server names, and a small house map called Willow Street House. This update also features a variety of changes and fixes, including some alterations to ghost behavior and fixing a variety of inconvenient bugs. With the newly expanded development team, it's likely that more changes and fixes will follow in later updates.

Time will tell how the new Phasmophobia map ranks with regards to the punishing professional difficulty. However, two different maps, High School and Asylum, have been flipped in an attempt to make them less confusing for players to navigate. The High School top and bottom floors have also been divided into 3 sections each in an attempt to make the evidence more accurately reflect the location of the ghost.

A few more changes should ensure that players who fall out of the map or go out of bands will now be teleported to their last location rather than back to the truck. Finally, the truck has been moved a little closer to the entrance on the Prison map, though no explanation was given as to why.

Phasmophobia currently contains 14 main types of ghosts, but with the newly expanded development team now incorporating a dedicated artist, new varieties are on the horizon. Even if players don't see another new type of ghost for a bit, it's entirely possible that Kinetic Games could start work on updated models for existing ghosts. Alternately, the artist could be put to work on more new maps or even items. The possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, it's a bit harder to predict the programmer's potential responsibilities.

Phasmophobia is currently playable on PC.
