Since being released a year ago, Kinetic Games' ghost hunting multiplayer game Phasmophobia has become a phenomenal success, particularly among the streaming community. At the start of this month, the game received the "Exposition" update which added numerous new things, such as two extra ghosts, and another ghost hunting tool called the D.O.T.S. projector. Now, to celebrate the title's one-year anniversary, the developer has released yet another patch, and has posted some words of thanks to the community.

In a post on the official Phasmophobia Steam page, the developer recently announced the "Anniversary Update," which makes some changes to the spooky game, such as being told what the ghost type was if the mission is failed, and players no longer being able to see the ghost in the D.O.T.S. projector if they die. However, one of the biggest changes is an overhaul of the journal, in which the update makes it easier to "use and navigate" and players will be able to cross out evidence.

One of the other things that the developer mentioned in the post is that the game has become one of the highest rated on Steam, with Kinetic Games going on to thank the community for all the "amazing support." This represents a huge achievement for the multiplayer horror title. Although, many may not be too surprised by this, as Phamophobia is considered one of the best horror games of 2020. The game is also being updated on a regular basis, which not only continues to add new aspects to keep it fresh, but also tweaks it to make it an overall better experience each time.

As with all updates, this latest Phasmophobia patch also fixes some game bugs. A couple of issues fixed include exploits in which players could glitch their head into the game's geometry to make the ghost not see them, or stand in a specific spot that the ghost can't reach. One other thing the anniversary update brings to the game is a single-player mode. While there's always been an option to play the game solo, this will now make it so players can choose to play offline, which means they won't be connected to a server.

Even when played with others, Phasmophobia can be quite difficult especially when it comes to finding the ghost room. The recent "Exposition" update has also seemingly made it a little tricker to out the ghost, which has become somewhat more aggressive, and can now open doors. All these updates go towards making the game not only a fun experience among friends, but one that can still bring on the scares.

Phasmophobia is available on PC as both a VR and non-VR game.
