Phasmophobia is a horror co-op game released just a couple of months ago that has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews and has been a best-seller on Steam. The indie game has up to four players take on the role of ghost hunters. The setting can range from prison, school, hospital, or house and there are 12 different kinds of ghosts that behave differently.

The game did not just get popular for its high quality. The news of Phasmophobia spread fast through famous game streamers such as PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye. Many people are also stuck in their homes under quarantine, so co-op games are a welcome way to be with friends.

For those who are looking for more co-op horror games that are like Phasmophobia, there are other titles that are also worth checking out.

10 GTFO

gtfo game

Released in 2019, GTFO is a survival-horror first-person shooter that is co-op. It certainly sets itself apart from Phasmophobia due to its combat, but it does share themes in the co-op and the scares.

The game gives the player the same joys as Phasmophobia in terms of screaming a lot with their friends. Even those that aren't good at GTFO tend to have fun and love to keep at it.

9 Handy Harry's Haunted House Services

Handy Harry's Haunted House Services is in early access and is definitely worth keeping an eye on. It has a lot of similarities with Phasmophobia, as the players take on the role of ghost hunters. The style is more retro though, especially when it comes to the player characters.

Reviews have commended Handy Harry's Haunted House Services for its great replay-ability, smart AI, and overall great community. Also, don't be fooled by the retro style into thinking this game isn't scary.

8 Friday The 13th: The Game

Friday the 13th game Jason

Even non-fans of Friday the 13th will enjoy this title for its co-op and scares. Unfortunately, public severs for multiplayer have been taken down. However, friends can host their own sessions if they find enough people to play with. This is also one of a couple of games where players can take on the role of Jason.

There is a single-player mode, but that is not what most players get this game for. Many Steam reviews note that they loved the game in its hay-day when there were public servers.

7 Sign Of Silence

Sign Of Silence

Released in October of this year, reviews of this title have been mixed. Positives that most reviews mention are the creepy visuals and environment along with the fun idea of trying to implement a mechanic where the amount of noise a person makes determines how safe they are.

Sign of Silence's negatives are that the sound balance needs improvement and exploration is limited. On the up-side, future updates of the game might fix this.

6 Secret Neighbor: Hello Neighbor Multiplayer

This game is a part of the Hello Neighbor series, which are solid stealth horror games about sneaking into a neighbors house to find out what he is hiding in his basement. Players are typically pitted against a clever AI.

This co-op version has all that with a twist: one player gets to play the neighbor in disguise. The game can host between five to ten players.

5 Dead By Daylight

PS4 Dead By Daylight Victim Fire

In Dead By Daylight, players can either play as survivors or be a killer that tries to hunt them down. Basically, this is a four versus one game. A fun aspect of Dead By Daylight is it is up to the players themselves whether they want to cooperate or be selfish to survive.

The online community for Dead By Daylight is big and there is a ton of fun content. However, unbalanced matchmaking can be a great source of frustration for new players.

4 Labyrinthine

Labyrinthine

Also released in October of this year was Labyrinthine, a game that takes place in an overgrown and spooky maze. The title is beautiful as well as scary to look at, but many reviews claim it does not feel completely done yet. However, it seems likely that improvements will come in the future.

While single-player is available, the game really shines in co-op where gamers join together to solve puzzles and try to escape the maze full of monsters.

3 The Blackout Club

This first-person co-op horror game was released in 2019 and centers on four friends who team up to solve the central mystery on their own. The story is about "blackouts" and the kids who are the main characters seem to be the only ones who know about it.

The town map gets bigger as player levels increase. As for the gameplay style, it is mostly about stealth.

2 Unfortunate Spacemen

Unfortunate Spacemen

Many players call this game Among Us with much more complex graphics and horror. Like Among Us, a lot of paranoia is involved in Unfortunate Spacemen since there is betrayal in the group.

Unlike Among Us, there are no meetings and players can shoot the monster. Unfortunate Spacemen is free on Steam, where it has mostly received positive reviews from players. It is also free-to-play, although Unfortunate Spacemen - Deathproof Edition can be purchased.

1 Pacify

Pacify takes place in a haunted house where players have the role of paranormal investigators. The game has single-player, co-op, and even a versus mode where the players are all interns competing for a full time.

Unlike Phasmophobia, this game is very attached to a single location and singular ghost. However, that is to the game's advantage because those two elements are terrifying.
