There's no denying that Phasmophobia has been one of the most successful team-based horror games in recent history, being particularly popular among streamers. With its co-op ghost hunting mechanics, as well as it being a pretty intense experience even when played with friends, it's not too surprising that it's one of the best co-operative horror titles out there. Developer Kinetic Games is also keen to keep it up-to-date with bug fixes and new content, and it looks as though there may be a holiday themed patch coming out at some point.

According to a post that was uploaded to Trello a few weeks ago, the studio responsible for Phasmophobia may be getting ready to roll out a Christmas update, which will have some new tweaks to the game. While there are not a lot of details to speak of at this stage, some of the additional content that may be coming include a summoning circle, a tortured voodoo doll, and some new Ouija board questions.

The last one is interesting, as Phasmophobia had a recent Ouija board update, so if there are some more questions coming in a later patch, it suggests that Kinetic want players to really engage with the board and planchette. The Trello post also says that there will be some more content, and has, perhaps jokingly, adding a couple of "REDACTED" entries to the list, so the aforementioned tweaks to the game won't be all that's coming in the update.

It is perhaps worth pointing out that, while the post does label it as a "Christmas [REDACTED]" update, it doesn't specifically state that it will have a Christmas theme, though it could be what the inclusion of "and more" is alluding to. Phasmiphobia had a Halloween update not that long ago, which did have all the accouterments of an October patch, so it would seem likely that the game will be getting into the holiday spirit at some point. It's difficult to tell at this point, of course, but it would be amusing to hunt a ghost in a building awash with bright lights and decorations normally associated with joy.

With Kinetic Games also adding the Maple Lodge Campsite map to the game recently, it seems the studio is nowhere near out of ideas for what to include. It's been a well-received horror title since it was released last September, so the opportunity to roll out a Christmas-themed update is one that will keep it in good standing with the fan base.

Phasmophobia is currently available on Steam.
