Earlier this year, the popular Japanese MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 finally came to the west, but in the process the PC version became exclusive to the Microsoft Store. That exclusivity won’t last for much longer, though, because Sega has announced that the game is coming to Steam, and soon.

According to said announcement, the game will launch on Valve’s platform next Wednesday, August 5, just over a week before it becomes readily available for one of the largest PC communities out there. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the launch will come with a few exclusive bonuses, which players can unlock by logging into Phantasy Star Online 2 from Steam and completing a set number of quests.

These bonuses will consist of various cosmetic items based on a number of Valve’s franchises, such as Gordon Freeman’s HEV Suit from Half-Life 2 and Alyx Vance’s costume from Half-Life: Alyx. Other cosmetics will include Pyro’s Gas Mask from Team Fortress 2, a Headcrab emote, and various weapon and item skins inspired by Half-Life, TF2, Portal, and Left 4 Dead.

Aside from the Steam launch, Sega confirmed that August 5 will also see the debut of Episode 4, the game’s next major update and the first since its western launch. This will provide players old and new with plenty to look forward to ahead of the release of the game’s sequel/companion title, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, next year.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is free-to-play on PC and Xbox One, with a Steam version launching on August 5.
