With YouTube being an ever-evolving social media platform that sees stars take the limelight and lose it within the space of a few months, it's rare to see creators with a legacy as enduring as PewDiePie's. The iconic YouTube persona has been one of the site's top stars for a decade, with his content changing rapidly over the years and ensuring he stayed put as one of the platform's most relevant names.

However, it's no secret that Felix Kjellberg has considered calling it a day on his storied YouTube career in the past, with PewDiePie being very vocal about the repetitive and toxic nature of the site's content and communities. In his recent return to Fridays with PewDiePie (or Thursdays with PewDiePie as he jokes in the video), the creator was asked whether he's ever considered retiring for good, to which Kjellberg answered with a resounding yes.

"I think I did more last year," the YouTuber states, following up his answer with "but after my break, it kind of gave me some time to understand which part of it I enjoy and I just want to focus on that." The break PewDiePie is referring to is the month-long hiatus from YouTube that he took earlier this January, with the creator taking some time for himself and his mental health. This isn't all PewDiePie reveals on the idea of retirement, YouTube, and his career, however, with some other questions in the video seeing him discuss his future place on the platform.

Speaking on the break earlier in the video, Felix Kjellberg claims "it was good for my mental health... my fear is that, even if I'm enjoying myself, I don't want my whole life to pass by doing the same thing... even if I love it. I'm getting old guys, I'm 30. I gotta say, I did not expect me to sit here 10 years later." It seems that PewDiePie's new approach to taking more time for himself and having long breaks to focus on his mental health and personal life means he's much less burnt out than in years prior.

It seems PewDiePie's decision to start focusing more on content he's personally drawn too has been a constant way of revitalizing both his and his fan's passion for his work on YouTube as well. Kjellberg's decision to essentially transform his entire platform into a Minecraft focused channel for a month led to heaps of praise last year, while series such as Meme Review and his intricate philosophy videos have been celebrated by fans as well.
