Atlus is teasing fans with a new announcement about the Persona franchise, telling them to stay tuned for a livestream set to air in early April. The massively popular RPG franchise has been busy throughout the past year with several re-releases of older games and new spinoff games being announced. 2022 and early 2023 saw Atlus release multi-platform ports of Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal as well as announce Persona 5: The Phantom X as a mobile spinoff. Now, a new announcement is reportedly on the way from the developer. The new Persona news comes as fans have been anxiously awaiting updates on the heavily rumored Persona 6. Atlus has yet to fully announce the next main-series entry in the more than 25-year-old RPG franchise, with the last major entry coming with Persona 5's release in 2017. The franchise has seen heavy speculation from fans with some rumors even claiming the game may have recently been delayed from an internal release date. Atlus has now teased a new reveal for a Persona-themed live stream next month.RELATED: One of Persona 5's Best Characters Won't Be In The Phantom XAtlus officially announced a livestream with more information about the upcoming Blu-Ray release of last year's "Persona Super Live" live concert on Friday morning. During the update, the developer teased more "exciting news" set to arrive about the franchise during the broadcast, encouraging fans to tune in. No confirmation was given about what the announcement would relate to, leading many fans to speculate whether the post refers to a new game or more Persona 5 merchandise. The live broadcast is set to air on April 9th with more details coming later.

An underwhelming reveal would not be the first time fans have been burned by Atlus' announcements. Fans were disappointed to learn the previously mentioned 2022 concert would not feature any new announcements related to the Persona franchise. The annual live concert series has previously seen multiple Persona-related projects revealed, including the Persona Dancing games in 2017 and Persona 5 Royal in 2019. Fans were also unhappy with the plethora of announcements for the franchise's 25th anniversary not revealing any new information about Persona 6.

While Atlus has yet to reveal greater details about Persona 6, the developer did confirm a new Persona title in development recently. Atlus would announce Persona 5: The Phantom X earlier this month, starring a brand-new cast of characters in the world of Persona 5. The game will release exclusively as a mobile version of the franchise with elements like the turn-based combat system and several characters returning from the original game. While Persona 6 may not release any time soon, Persona 5: The Phantom X will look to appease the franchise's most passionate fans.
