While some Persona fans are looking forward and wondering what's next for the franchise, some fans can't help but look back. One fan, including weaK_willO on ResetEra, is nostalgic for a Persona game that many haven't even heard of.

Persona 5 Royal Edition and Persona 4 Golden Edition are giving new fans a chance to dive into the series, possibly opening doors for more Persona on different platforms in the future. Some new fans are looking to play the older video games as they wait for the next game. But one TCG collector is hoping to share the forgotten Persona game with the whole world: Digital Devil Story Trading Card Game.

In a post on the website ResetEra, a Persona fan began to digitize their massive collection of Digital Devil Story TCG cards in hopes that the now-defunct TCG can be played by all the new Persona fans. This TCG was printed between 1997 and 2004. While better known for the Persona video games and other strange titles like Catherine, which will soon be coming to the Switch, Atlus was responsible for the Digital Demon TCG along with Enterbrain and eventually Media Factory.

The user weaK_willO on ResetEra is attempting to digitize their massive collection of more than 20,000 cards and the rules so that new fans can learn to play, and maybe even proxy a deck for themselves. The card series pulls inspiration from Shin Megami Tensei 1, Shin Megami Tensei 2, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, Persona 1, and Persona 2, which recently received a weird GameFAQs update nine years later.

In a market already flooded with giants like Magic: the Gathering and the Pokemon TCG, it's not a surprise that this eastern-only Digital Demon game got lost in the shuffle. But this digitizing labor of love by weaK_willO will most likely be enjoyed by Persona fans all over the world. So while everyone waits for the Joker amiibo and the next Persona chapter, perhaps they can pick up a deck of Digital Devil Story cards and bring back a piece of Atlus history that has been long forgotten.
