Persona 5 Switch Version Leaks

It has been a big day for fans of Atlus's sensational JRPG Persona 5. First, a website for the mysterious Persona 5 S went live, with indication that more details on the title would be coming on April 25. Then, a hidden message from the Phantom Thieves was located in the source code of the aforementioned website. Now, it seems that there is confirmation that a version of Persona 5 is indeed on its way to Nintendo Switch.

As shared by Twitter user, and "Persona series info translator," MysticDistance, a record for Persona 5 Switch has been located in Best Buy's employee system, complete with original UPC and SKU codes. Additionally, well known Twitter user Wario64 has offered his own verification of this information, stating that he can "confirm that it's in Best Buy's system."

With an image to backup the claims of these two established individuals, it is relatively safe to assume that Persona 5 for Switch does currently have a record within Best Buy's internal system. While this will certainly be exciting news to many, it, of course, does not act as official confirmation of the existence of the port.

However, as MysticDistance points out, the original UPC and SKU codes attached to the record certainly suggest that Persona 5 Switch may be legitimate. This is given further credence by the fact that the shared image of the entry is an actual photo of a Best Buy point of sale terminal, rather than a screenshot that could be very easily faked.

Moreover, this is definitely not the first time that there has been talk of a Persona 5 Switch port. Just last month, for example, Twitter user, and Persona news leaker, Mr. Ohya claimed that Persona 5 Switch's release date would be Fall 2019. While no further details were given, this new leak from Best Buy does seem to lend Mr. Ohya's statement some additional validation.

With all of this said, fans should certainly wait for official word before too hardily celebrating Joker and the Phantom Thieves' arrival on Switch. Fortunately, excited fans can continue to enjoy the Persona 5 R trailer while they wait to hear from Atlus and Nintendo.

Persona 5 is available now for PS4 and PS3.
