Two years after the release of Persona 5, Atlus teased the existence of two new Persona 5 games, one titled Persona 5 R and the other titled Persona 5 Sturned out to be Persona 5 Royal, though fans of the series were certain that would be a port of Persona 5 to Nintendo Switch. Thus, fans were let down when they came to find out that it was instead a spin-off game exclusively for the Switch titled Persona 5: Scramble.

Persona 5 is a popular turn-based RPG that was released to worldwide critical acclaim back in 2017 and is the first new installment of the main Persona series to be released within the last eight years. Following the success of Persona 5, numerous spin-offs were subsequently released, including a rhythm game, an animated series, and two new games that are set to release in February and March of this year. This includes the aforementioned Persona 5 Scramble and Persona 5 Royal, a revamped version of the main game with additional content, whose North American release date was recently announced at the beginning of December.

Following the reveal of Persona 5 Scramble there were obviously a lot of fans that were upset that Persona 5 would not be coming to the Switch, after being presented with a large amount of solid evidence in support of that theory. However, according to a recent statement from Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula, it's possible that a Switch port could still happen, under the condition that fans continue to ask for it.

When asked about the idea of a port to Nintendo Switch, Advincula stated that if the fans did not let Atlus know what they want from the company, then the company would never develop it. Sound logic to be sure. Persona 4 Golden, the universally popular port of Persona 4, likely would not have been made if the developers did not think fans would want it.

The Persona series has always had an incredibly dedicated following and ever since Persona 5 blew everyone away, fans have really started to consider a great number of possibilities that Atlus could deliver on. Atlus has already done so in the form of the 2019 remake of the cult classic romantic drama game puzzle Catherinetitled Catherine: Full Body.

Then again, there's ultimately no guarantee. Die-hard fans of the series have been begging Atlus for years to remake the first two Persona games, but Atlus has expressed absolutely no level of interest in doing so. On the bright side, fans have also been petitioning Atlus to remake Persona 3, which seems more likely to happen given the recent release of Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight. It seems that the best fans can do for right now is to let their voices be heard and keep asking Atlus for a Switch port.

Persona 5 is available now for the PS3 and PS4.
