With well over 100 hours of gameplay, there are a lot of hidden features that are easily missed in Persona 5 Royal. Most in-game time will be spent stealing hearts or ranking up Confidants. However, players who take the time to explore Tokyo may find it worthwhile. There are various attractions and activities that can boost Social Stats or raise max HP and SP. One thing a lot of people might miss on their first run is the postbox.

Towards the middle of Persona 5 Royal, players will be able to send fake Calling Cards to their Confidants. The Calling Cards are items available for a limited time in-game. If players want an extra point towards a Confidant, they should consider using the postbox. Luckily, it's easy to do and requires little to no effort for Joker to send cards to his Confidants.

Where is the Postbox?

The postbox is in Yongen-Jaya by the movie theater and across from the general store. Interacting with it when Joker doesn't have the right items in the inventory won't do anything. Furthermore, Confidant gifts such as the Watercolor Postcard can't be put in the postbox.

The postbox is really only here if players need a few more points towards a Confidant. For much of the game, players won't be able to use the postbox because they require one type of item.

Once the Phantom Thieves start gaining popularity, they'll be able to purchase Calling Postcards from the Discount Store in Shibuya. These are 500 yen and can only be bought one at a time.

If a Calling Postcard is "sold out," check back at the store the following day. Players should keep an eye on the Phansite Popularity Poll. If the anonymous messages are calling for Phantom Thieves to take down Okumura, then the Calling Postcards should be available at the Discount Store. Once the Phantom Thieves start losing popularity (post-Okumura), the Calling Postcards can no longer be purchased.

When to Send "Calling Cards"

With a Calling Postcard, interact with the postbox in Yongen-Jaya, and a list of Joker's Confidants will appear. Those that can still Rank Up will be eligible for a Calling Postcard.

This is perfect for Confidants that just need one more point to advance to the next Rank. To check the bond with a Confidant, Joker can speak to them and select "Check Bond with [Character]." If Joker thinks "I don't think my bond with [character] will increase yet...", then that means the Confidant needs a point or two for Joker to reach the next Rank.

To check and see if a Confidant is ready to Rank Up, press the R1 button to open the map. Any area with a blue card means a Confidant is available to hang out with for the day.

Hover over one of the areas and press Square (PS4) to pull up the list. If a Confidant's name doesn't have a giant "UP!" written next to it, then that means they are missing a few Confidant Points. The ones missing the "UP!" are the ones Joker should be sending Calling Postcards to.

Keep in mind that Calling Postcards can only be purchased once a day during September-October/Okumura's Arc. That means Joker will only be able to send out one at a time. There may be some days when the Discount Store is out of stock, so get in the habit of checking. Using the postbox does not waste afternoon/evening time.

Persona 5 Royal is available now on PS4. A PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass release is scheduled for October 21, 2022.
