Atlus recently announced a set of streaming guidelines for Persona 5 Royal that some fans consider pretty strict. Atlus is finally bringing the Persona series to multiple platforms after several requests from fans. These ports were announced during the Persona 25th Anniversary celebration, alongside other smaller reveals. The first of these games to come to platforms other than PlayStation is the most recent one, Persona 5 Royal, with its global launch in roughly one week.
With the game launching worldwide, Atlus has been doing quite a bit to promote the multi-platform release. This includes a new boxed limited edition of Persona 5 Royal and gameplay showcases on the other platforms. With the game's launch on the horizon, Atlus will be implementing a set of guidelines for any gamers looking to stream the game or post other content about it.
As detailed on Atlus' official website, streaming of the game is allowed when the multi-platform version officially launches, depending on region. However, video recordings and livestreaming of Persona 5 Royal is strongly prohibited prior to the global launch of the multi-platforms versions on October 21. The wording on this guideline seems to imply that Atlus will be enforcing this rule for even the PS4 version, the console it is already released on.
Moreover, the other streaming guidelines list how those who will be streaming the game should be considerate of other players who wish to enjoy the story of the game at their own pace. This includes the standard practice of adding a spoiler warning to video titles or descriptions, there will also be a segment of the game Atlus has asked fans to not stream: the events from December 10th to Persona 5 Royal's True Ending. This set of guidelines have drawn the ire of some fans. Some noted this is the exact same set of guidelines during Persona 5 Royal and vanilla Persona 5's releases, where the former game has been out for nearly three years and the vanilla game's been out for nearly six. Regardless, this set of rules will likely be enforced for the time being.
Persona 5 Royal is available now on PS4 and will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 21, 2022.
