Whatever players want to call Persona 5 Royal--a rerelease, an expanded version--it is the definitive way to play the game, with an expanded story, new characters, and enough new content to make it seem like an entirely new game. Like the original version, once Persona 5 Royal is completed, a new game plus (NG+) is offered to the player.

The game released just last week and it can take a long time to beat. But for anyone who just can't get enough Phantom Thievery, there are a lot of benefits to starting over from the beginning. The main perk is that players won't have to start from scratch. All of their hard work doesn't go to waste. Here is a list of everything that will be carried over in the next playthrough.

Persona

Compendium

  • Every Persona a player has unlocked throughout the game will be available to them in NG+. This means players can head straight to the Velvet Room and re-summon a powerful Persona like Satanael right from the get-go. To make getting through the Strength confidant requirements quickly this time, it is wise to register all of the twins' requested Personas (with the appropriate skills) so they're ready to summon immediately.

Combat Data

  • The valuable data gained through battles, such as elemental affinities that show strengths and weaknesses, will still be available in the second run-through, even if a player never acquired that Persona.

Items

Money

  • Players won't have too much trouble funding all of those summonings, as they will keep all of the money they had when completing the game.

Equipment

  • Every piece of armor, as well as weapons and accessories, will also stick around. Characters will start fresh, so they will all need to be re-equipped.

Special Items

  • These include items given from social link characters at the end of the game as well as items that unlock Persona fusions. Any Christmas gifts received from a significant other--if they bothered to start a romance--will remain. Additionally, the very handy Eternal Lockpick, which all players should make sure they have before completing the game, will be available.

Skill Cards

  • Any and all Skills Cards will be carried over, making it easy to add the desired skill to a Persona.

Gun Customizations

  • While gun customization itself will still need to be unlocked through the Hanged Man confidant, Munehisa Iwai, any guns that already have customizations will keep them.

Minigame Equipment

  • Items like the Specialty Dart or the Jump Cue will be ready to implement in their respective minigames.

Stats

Social Stats

  • No more wasting days and nights grinding the five social stats. If players had them capped out at level 5 when they beat the game, that's where they remain. Building social links and dodging chalk will be a breeze in the following playthroughs.

HP and SP Increases

  • Any time spent working out or meditating at the temple will not go to waste. The permanent increases to HP and SP will be carried over to keep those stats high.

Jazz Club Cocktail Effects

  • Stat increases gained from the Jazz Club will remain, but unfortunately, the skills learned from the Sunday cocktails will not.

 Miscellaneous

Challenge Battle Scores and Rewards

  • Some of the toughest battles in the game are in the Velvet Room, and the high scores and rewards gained through those battles will be carried over into NG+

Mementos Stamps

  • Don't worry about searching through Mementos again to collect stamps for Jose. Every stamp the players have received will be there when they start the game over.

As mentioned above, there are a lot of great reasons to play through Persona 5 Royal more than once. New game plus makes the game less challenging, which means players can spend more time enjoying the journey, looking for Easter eggs, or just experiencing the fantastic story all over again at their own pace without worrying about grinding and the hurdles of high school life. Plus, it's worth another round just to listen to the game's amazing soundtrack.
