The Persona series is extremely popular in Japan, and it's gaining quite a bit of popularity in the west, as well. On the heels of that popularity comes the announcement that the spin-off Persona 5 Mementos Mission manga is finally being translated into English and brought to the west.

Unlike the original Persona 5 manga, which is primarily a retelling of the original game's story, Persona 5 Mementos Mission is a side-story that focuses on the Phantom Thieves' exploration of Mementos and taking down smaller-scale criminals and villains than the bosses who have Palaces in the game.

The news comes way of Degenki Online, which held an interview with the mangaka Rokuro Saito and the series' producer Kazuhisa Wada. According to the translation courtesy of Persona Central, Saito finished off the interview by revealing that "an English version of the project is secretly in the works" and encourages fans overseas to give it a try.

This likely comes as great news to big fans of the Persona 5 games, as publisher Yen Press originally announced the manga would get an English release back in 2019. However, the publisher quickly rescinded the announcement, claiming that it was a "mistake." It's currently unclear if Yen Press or another publisher will be handling the translation. Viz Media currently has the rights to the main Persona 5 manga.

It's a good time to be a Persona 5 fan in the west. Fans now know that the Persona 5 anime is getting an English dub, and the reveal that Persona 5 Scramble will get translated just came courtesy of a Koei Tecmo fiscal report. While it's currently unclear when the game will get released, fans can at least rest easy knowing that it's now planned, rather than being left up in the air as it was prior to this reveal. For now, the same can be said of the Persona 5 Mementos Mission manga, as no official release information has been provided outside of this interview blurb.

It remains to be seen if Persona 5's story has officially come to an end. Atlus frequently creates a number of spin-offs to its games, with Persona 5 having already received the expanded Persona 5 Royal release, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and of course, Persona 5 Scramble, the Dynasty Warriors-esque sequel. In the meantime, though, fans can look forward to what's coming from the Shin Megami Tensei universe that Persona itself spun off of, as SMT 3: Nocturne is receiving a remaster and SMT 5 is slated for 2021 on the Nintendo Switch.
