Ann Takamaki is easily one of the best JRPG characters of all time. While it's true that her character is objectified during certain instances throughout Persona 5, she ends up coming into her own as a strong and independent person who always ends up being charming in her own unique way. In fact, Ann ends up sporting a goofy streak of her own that nobody could've anticipated, given the fact that most people anticipated her to be a haughty character who was too proud for her own good.

Both Ann and Ryuji were heavily affected by Kamoshida and his horrible antics when Shujin Academy gave him full reign to be as corrupt as possible.
Ann's friend Shiho was especially affected by Kamoshida, to the point where she even tried to take her own life. This angered Ann to no end, who decided to finally stand on her own two feet and confront this sleazeball once and for all.

Ann's awakening scene is one of the most powerful moments in Persona 5. She finally breaks free from the bonds that were holding her back for the longest time... both literally and figuratively!
This leads to the appearance of Carmen, who ends up aiding Ann in her quest to redeem herself and exact some much-needed revenge on Kamoshida.

As the protagonist starts developing a bond with Ann, she reveals how helpless she felt in Shiho's case and vows to never be placed in such a helpless situation once again.
After realizing that she had the strength to help people, Ann promises to use this strength for good and help the disenfranchised who have been just as oppressed as Shiho, if not more.
7 "I'll Turn My Failure Today Into Positive Energy Going Forward!"
As Joker and Ann become more chummy over time, the protagonist witnesses the latter being shown up by a rival of hers. While the first time this happens leaves Ann in low spirits, she ends up with a rather mature realization post this initial frustration.
Ann stops reveling in her failures and decides to learn from her mistakes and move forward — a mentality that most people would definitely benefit from adopting.
6 "Dance, Carmen/Hecate/Celestine!"
There's a certain charm to Ann's behavior in combat, making the act of using her in tough situations an absolute blast as a result.
Every time the player targets an enemy's weakness with Ann's attacks, she ends up uttering this rather sassy line which makes said attack all the more satisfying.

Ann's Confidant is a beautiful journey that shows how much she's developed as a person, after initially feeling helpless to stop Kamoshida's corrupt warpath through Shujin.
After attaining a number of self-realizations by hanging out with the protagonist, Ann realizes the true meaning of strength — something she'd struggled with time and time again. It's a refreshing take on the situation and reveals a level of depth to Ann's character that had been hinted at from the very first moment she was introduced in the game.
3 "A Beautiful Rose Has Thorns!"
Launching an All-Out Attack with Ann at the helm is definitely one of the more satisfying moments in Persona 5.
Not only is the graphic that accompanies this attack visually spectacular, but this one particular line that she utters from time to time also ends up being rather satisfying to listen to in its own right. It certainly helps that a rose with thorns is the perfect way to describe Ann's femme fatale personality.

After almost maxing out Ann's Confidant, it's clear to see that she has grown a ton as a character, to the point where she's attained a ton of clarity when it comes to the concepts of forming relationships and self-sacrifice.
Ann accepted the fact that she was running away from her problems for the longest time. Therefore, she decided to always challenge herself in a bid to be better than the person she was before.
1 "We're... We're Both Going To Keep Living Our Lives On Our Own Strength!"
After Maruki ends up putting almost all of the Phantom Thieves in a trance, Ann ends up living a reality where Shiho never tried to end her life and they both enjoy a flourishing friendship. However, as the story progresses, the Phantom Thieves slowly realize that they've been living a lie all this time.
When Ann finally realizes that this reality has been nothing but an illusion, she ends up declaring that she wants her and Shiho to live a happy life without the help of Maruki, breaking the last vestiges of control that the counselor had over her.
