Despite the Persona franchise being one of the most popular JRPG franchises in the world, they have never been available on PC. That is, until now, as Atlus has surprise-launched the critically-acclaimed Persona 4 Golden on Steam. Announced during The PC Gaming Show, Persona 4 Golden is now available on PC worldwide, and it comes with some important enhancements not available in other versions of the game.
As confirmed during The PC Gaming Show, Persona 4 Golden on PC has full HD visuals, meaning the game looks better now than it ever did on PlayStation 2 or PlayStation Vita. It also supports Steam Achievements and Trading Cards, plus it has options for both English and Japanese voice acting. The latter was absent in the original Persona 4 Golden release on PS Vita, so it will definitely be appreciated by hardcore fans of the franchise.
Anyone interested in checking out Persona 4 can download the game now for $19.99 on Steam. They can also purchase the Persona 4 Golden Digital Deluxe Edition for $24.99 as well, which includes the game, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack with nine tracks.
The launch of Persona 4 Golden on PC is a celebrated event for sure, and it will be interesting to see if this means other Persona games will make their way to the platform as well. Fans would no doubt want to see Persona 3 and the recently released Persona 5 Royal on PC, though the latter has so far maintained its PS4 exclusivity, despite rumors of a potential Nintendo Switch port.
If Persona 4 Golden is a sales success on PC, one has to imagine that Atlus will look into bringing the other Persona games to the platform as well as other consoles. All things considered, it seems like a missed opportunity that the Persona franchise isn't more widely available. After all, Persona 5's Joker is available for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players on Switch, so it's a bit strange that the game he's in isn't also available on Nintendo's handheld/home console hybrid.
