Atlus' Persona franchise has become hugely popular in recent years, mainly thanks to the runaway success of the critically-acclaimed Persona 5. This has fueled renewed interest in older Persona games, with many fans hoping to see them made more easily available on modern platforms. Atlus has shown a willingness to bring these games to new systems, like with the Persona 4 Golden PC port, and now a new rumor suggests that even more may be on the way.

Nintendo leaker Zippo, who has accurately leaked some news in the past (though fans should still take their claims with a massive grain of salt), has suggested that Atlus is preparing to port Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to consoles at some point in 2022. According to Zippo, these ports will include the Nintendo Switch, though they didn't specify if both PlayStation and Xbox will be included as well.

Zippo is also not sure if the Persona 3 Portable console port is coming first or if Persona 4 Golden is coming first, just that fans can expect them in 2022. Again, fans should treat Zippo's claims with skepticism for now and keep their expectations in check. It's always best to wait for an announcement from an official source when it comes to these things. If Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are coming to more platforms in 2022, then one has to imagine the official announcement from Atlus is coming at some point in the near future.

Persona 3 Portable

With the Persona series enjoying increased mainstream success, it makes perfect sense for Atlus to capitalize on its momentum by bringing classic games to more platforms. Such a move would boost the Persona franchise's potential playerbase that much further, and would undoubtedly create more fans in the process. Whether or not Atlus will actually produce Persona ports is questionable, though.

For the most part, the Persona games have stuck closely to PlayStation, rarely venturing elsewhere. One of the notable exceptions is the Persona 4 Golden PC port, which made the classic game much easier for one to get their hands on. Playing some of these classic Persona games can be a big financial investment when it comes to hunting down physical releases, and with the PlayStation Store nearly shut down not too long ago, access to those older digital versions will likely be going away at some point as well, making potential ports from Atlus much more appealing.

Considering that, here's hoping these latest Persona rumors are accurate so people can continue discovering the series for themselves.
