For the longest time, the Persona franchise was mainly in the purview of mainline PlayStation consoles and their various portable offshoots, such as the PSP and PS Vita. That begun to change just a few years back, however, when the developer, Atlus, began to slowly release select Persona titles on other platforms, such as PC.

This began a series of rumors that Atlus would eventually release all the major Persona games on virtually every contemporary gaming platform, which was subsequently confirmed earlier this month. Specifically, Atlus announced that Persona 3, 4, and 5 will launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5, but failed to mention Nintendo Switch in any meaningful capacity. This, however, has now changed, as the studio just announced that the three aforementioned titles would be coming to Switch as well.

While it was suspicious that Atlus didn't mention Nintendo Switch when it announced that Persona games are launching on other platforms, it seemed like a reasonable assumption that this would be the case, regardless. This assumption has now been verified, much to Switch fans' relief, by Atlus itself. The studio has just revealed that Persona 5 Royal will come out on Nintendo Switch on October 21, as well as confirmed that the remaining two Persona titles would eventually follow suit.

Of course, it would've been a huge letdown for fans if Persona skipped Nintendo Switch, as the games lend themselves perfectly to this kind of console. While it's slightly disappointing that there's no concrete release date available for Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable, the mere fact that all three major Persona games would launch on Switch should keep fans happy for the time being. Especially since P5 is the newest and flashiest of the three.

It had recently been confirmed that Persona 5 will include all its DLC once it comes out on Xbox and PC, and while Atlus is yet to confirm whether this is the case on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, too, odds are good that this is indeed the case. At the same time, it's worth pointing out that the majority of P5's 40 pieces of DLC are simple costume switches and BGM packs, and are therefore not going to make-or-break the deal, no matter what.

Some believe that such a comprehensive re-launch buildup suggests Persona 6 could be a multi-platform title. Atlus is yet to comment on this idea, but it seems like a reasonable assumption to make. Not only will all the studio's flagship games now be available virtually across the board, but its newer titles such as Soul Hackers 2 are already confirmed as multi-platform releases. P6 could, therefore, be on Switch on day one.

Persona 5 Royal is coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 5 on October 21, 2022. Persona 3 and Persona 4 release dates are still pending.
