Back in 1999, Atlus released a sequel to Revelations: Persona on the original PlayStation with, Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Now old and new Persona fans have something to look forward to, because Atlus is looking to port their hit RPG over to the PSP.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin was actually released as the first chapter in a duology, with the second chapter in the story being Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, released the following year in 2000. In Innocent Sin, the player takes control of Tatsuya Suou, a high school student who lives in Sumaru City. Following a near-death experience, Tatsuya is transported to Philemon, a realm where astral beings can exist outside of the real world.

The port will be seeing some great and exciting changes featured below:

  • Switching to wide screen output
  • Over 100 arranged songs
  • The option to select between the original and arranged music
  • Brand-new illustration work from famed character designer, Shigenori Soejima
  • Battle system is based off of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
  • New Opening Movie
  • Team attacks will now feature cut-scenes
  • The ability to check on your demon's emotions

As is usual with these sorts of announcements, there was unfortunately no word from Atlus on whether or not will the game will also see an international release. Persona games have always been popular among JRPG fans, and while both Persona 3 and 4 have both found a niche in the American market it doesn't justify a global release.

This certainly is great news for fans of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series and hopefully Atlus will see provide global release information soon.

Does Atlus have another hit on their hands with this remake, and if successful, will they also remake the Persona 2: Eternal Punishment to complete the story?

The status of completion of Persona 2: Innocent Sin is 90% complete and is set to be released exclusively in Japan this Winter for the PSP.
