People Can Fly, the studio behind 2011's Bulletstorm2013's Gears of War Judgement, and this year's Outriders, has announced that it's currently working on a brand new AAA game set to release on next-generation consoles. According to the developers, the release will be a "highly ambitious, groundbreaking action adventure title," which feels right at home when compared to the studio's portfolio of high-octane shooters.

As for who's behind the game, it will be overseen by two industry veterans, the first of which being the head of People Can Fly, David Grijns. The second is a little more surprising, with Rolan Lesterlin, director of Just Cause 3taking up the reigns of the project as its creative director.

People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski had a lot to say about the mysterious upcoming project in a press release on the studio's site, claiming "there is electricity in the air at People Can Fly." He continues, "Last year we announced the opening of our New York studio and revealed Outriders for the first time. Today we have surpassed 250 staff and are excited to announce the next chapter in the development of our company. Our intention from the beginning has been to expand People Can Fly into a multi-project studio and continue to build a global presence for our brand."

Of course, with 2020's Outriders still scheduled to hit shelves later this year, it's evident the studio has achieved one half of its goal, with People Can Fly developing two significant projects at the same time. Having names like Lesterlin on board will no doubt help to achieve the second step, with the Just Cause developer likely bringing some valuable experience that could help take People Can Fly to new heights. Speaking on the game, Lesterlin said "It’s rare to ever get the chance to work on an original AAA game in today’s world, never mind being part of the origination process," letting other game devs know that the studio is currently hiring.

The team will be working with its sister locations in Warsaw, Rzeszow, and Newcastle to develop the new project, meaning it'll likely be one of the developer's biggest games to date. In a final statement, Wojciechowski told fans "with the launch of the next-generation consoles later this year, we are incredibly excited about the future of People Can Fly and the games industry as a whole." Evidently, the team is embracing the future and are ready to deliver an experience worthy of the leap in hardware.

People Can Fly's Next Project is in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
