Peach Super Smash Bros Wii U 3DS

After a botched launch, Nintendo has put plans into motion to bring its struggling Wii U console back to the realm of relevancy. A recent price drop, coupled with a major first-party software release every month until December, should boost sales and get consumers on the Big N's side, but there's one game that hardcore gamers and casual fans alike are still waiting on — Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

The four-player, crossover-themed beat 'em up has been making waves with each new character reveal, and today the confirmation of yet another veteran, Princess Peach, has provided fans with a bountiful number of new screenshots for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. All of the screenshots in question reconfirm several of Peach's well known attacks from past installments of the series, with Toad's return as a shield being one of the more comical moves in her arsenal.

Peach's return isn't by any means a jaw-dropping revelation — frankly, neither was the confirmation of Luigi last month either — but it should stand as another drop in the bucket as gamers await the confirmation of a newcomer to join the ranks of Mega Man.

Many were hoping that the protagonist from The Wonderful 101, Wonder Red, would be the next character unveiled since the game hits North America very soon, but Peach's unveiling doesn't mean the character is out of the running just yet. There are still plenty of other heroes, villains, and the occasional anti-hero left to be confirmed for the new Super Smash Bros. titles, so fans can rest easy knowing there are plenty of other surprises still up Ninty's sleeve.

In the meantime, stay tuned to Game Rant for more announcements pertaining to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
