Since his beginnings as the voice of the AI system JARVIS and his subsequent role as Vision, Paul Bettany has been one of the actors from the MCU who has stayed in the franchise for the longest time. Although the season finale of WandaVision seemingly brought Vision's story to an end, Bettany might not be done with playing the character.

The last episode of the Disney Plus series WandaVision ended with Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch dismantling the Hex, a sitcom world she created to process her grief surrounding Vision's death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. In the episode, Vision's fate is unclear as he flies off into the distance after fighting White Vision, the version of himself created by SWORD, and transferring his data and memories onto his counterpart.

Bettany recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss his new show, A Very British Scandal. During the interview, the actor was asked about his future in the MCU and potentially reprising his role as Vision. Bettany initially replied that he wouldn't return even if he was offered a large sum of money, though, on a more serious note, noted that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige doesn't allow "loose" endings like the one in WandaVision. Therefore, there's a good chance that Bettany will suit up as Vision once again.

WandaVision

"(...) The honest answer to that is — well maybe it's not the honest answer, but it's the answer I'm going to give you, and you'll just have to cope with it — at the end of WandaVision, you see Vision fly off and that's a loose end" Bettany explained. "And Kevin Feige is a man who doesn't really allow loose ends. So I assume at some point I will be putting on my tights and cloak for another outing, but I don't know when that might be."

Bettany had previously shared that his time in the MCU had ended. While doing press for WandaVision's Emmy campaign last year, Bettany said his contract with Marvel was up and that he wasn't scheduled to appear in any more projects at that point. Before the announcement, Bettany had been in the MCU for several years, starting with 2008's Iron Man.

Fans expected Vision to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which comes out on May 5th. While it remains unclear whether he will make a cameo in the upcoming film or not, the possibility for Bettany to return for a future Marvel project is still open. Fans just have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite android back.

WandaVision is now available on Disney Plus.
