As the the Pathfinder second edition (2e) is coming up on its one year anniversary, some elements of the old game will be officially returning some older edition content to the new edition format. This means that players will soon be able play Catfolk straight from the handbook.

Catfolk have been included in the first edition of Pathfinder, another roleplaying system like Dungeons and Dragons, and while it has existed outside the game's basic rules as a supplemental add on, it will now be included in the game's handbook again.

Pathfinder will be coming out with an all-new Advanced Player Guide, which will be available for purchase on July 30. In the new handbook, Catfolk will be added along with five new ancestries and five new heritages for any ancestry. This race and the way that Paizo approaches the topic is race is more progressive than the way that Dungeons and Dragons has been viewing race, which has stirred up a controversy in recent months.

Pathfinder Handbook

According to a sneak peek of the upcoming handbook, "Curious and gregarious wanderers, catfolk combine features of felines and humanoids in bot appearance and temperament. They enjoy learning new things, collecting new tales and trinkets, and ensuring their loved ones are safe and happy. Catfolk view themselves as chosen guardians of natural places in the world and are often recklessly brace, even in the face of overwhelming opposition."

The Advanced Player Guide will be priced at $49.99 for a hardcopy version while only costing $14.99 for a PDF version. This would have been perfectly timed right before GenCon, but the tabletop roleplaying convention was canceled earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, players will still be able to play in their scheduled adventures via virtual tools such as Roll20.
