It's looking like the Echoes of Atlas expansion for Path Of Exile is the most popular one yet. The developers Grinding Gear Games reveals that the addition to Path Of Exile officially has the most downloads.

Over time, the free-to-play online action RPG solidified itself as a solid entry for fans who like the game genre. The expansion, Echoes of Atlas, is the 35th update after a series of changes to Path Of Exile. And only having come out a few days ago on various platforms, this newest addition is already making waves.

During the launch window, Grinding Gear Games touted over 250,000 players on Steam, a number that put Path Of Exile within the top 5 most popular games on the PC platform. Thanks to the hype behind Echoes of Atlas, player engagement is up too. The developers describe how the number of gamers playing is 11% higher than any of the previous expansions. As some may assume, current pandemic lockdowns could be inflating these positive results.

That said, the Echoes of Atlas expansion also offers plenty of reasons to jump into Path Of Exile. Grinding Gear Games focuses on making content for all levels of play, and this is apparent in the newest release. The top players have new pinnacle challenges to attempt, while average players can explore changes to the Ascendancy classes. But even new adventurers, a Ritual League provides fun ways to loot and fight from the get-go.

With so many new aspects to jump into, it is of little surprise that the Echoes of Atlas expansion is performing so well. On top of being free-to-play, Path Of Exile offers plenty to do for players of all kinds. Regardless if players are a veteran or just starting out, there is a wide variety of content in Path of Exile like endgame story and currencies. Even some premium multiplayer games struggle to make the experience fun for a wide range of gamers. While many of the expansions have gotten it into the top charts, it does seem like Grinding Gear Games is going in the right direction.

Though, as a free game, it is not like the bar preventing new players from trying out Path Of Exile is high. Plus, with the current pandemic still running rampant, these numbers could see a decline should a vaccine become available widespread. With Path Of Exile 2 coming up, it remains to be seen whether the developers can keep the magic going. It is true that the first game will remain online, but any work put towards that game could be moot once the sequel is out. All in all, Grinding Gear Games has made some great achievements due to the work put into expansions like Echoes of Atlas.

Path Of Exile is available to play on iOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
