With the handheld console having amassed so many beloved exclusives over its time on the market, it hasn't come as a surprise to PlayStation fans that a number of the PSP’s biggest games have resurfaced on the PlayStation 4. Among franchises like LocoRoco, one of the biggest PSP titles to makes it ways to the console was Patapon, the popular rhythm action game from Sony. It was massively successful on the handheld console and was welcomed back with open arms on the PlayStation 4, so now it appears Sony is bringing the cult franchise back for another remastered offering.

Announced via a short trailer courtesy of the PlayStation YouTube channel, Patapon 2 Remastered will be making its way to players on January 30. Its visuals will more striking than ever before as well, with the PSP port boasting native 4K visuals to aid in bringing the title to modern consoles.

The trailer, which comes in at one minute long, shows off Patapon’s 2 new worlds and enemies as well as giving the viewer a taste of the catchy music they can come to expect when playing the game. Among displaying some of the beautiful cartoony visuals that have now become synonymous with the title, the trailer also highlights dinosaurs, mammoths, and a giant dancing tree that the player appears to be interacting with. It’s a fantastic introduction to the world of Patapon 2 that’s only improved by the reveal of the game’s release date, which is merely three days away.

For those who’ve never played the PSP exclusive handheld title, the core gameplay surrounds the player controlling a tribe of musical warriors as they take on enemies and march across charming 2D landscapes. Combat utilizes rhythm focused action, with players having to match button prompts with the music to control the game’s army of adorable minions. In contrast to the original game, Patapon 2 takes players to a new location with fresh enemies to battle and levels to explore.

With so many games being delayed to the latter half of 2020, there’s no denying that a title like Patapon 2 releasing so soon will be greatly appreciated by players looking for something to fill the early year void. The sequel was loved by many but experienced by too few, so it seems the perfect time to release Patapon 2 and give bored players the chance to get their hands on the classic title for the first time.

Patapon 2 Remastered is coming to PlayStation 4 on January 30.
