Today, Nintendo dropped a massive trailer detailing the vast areas of Paper Mario: The Origami King. At only three and a half minutes in length, the trailer covers lots of ground in its short run time.

Right off the bat, The Origami King's new trailer gives a very quick overview of the plot, which involves the evil King Olly wrecking havoc across the Mushroom Kingdom, and disappearance of the Toads that inhabit it. This info was already detailed in last week's Treehouse Live event, but the trailer digs even deeper into the game.

It introduces the first area, called Whispering Woods, as well as Mario's sidekick in The Origami King, Olivia. The player must help rescue the Toads throughout the game in order to restore Toad Town back to its bustling, lively former self. The game's next world detailed is Autumn Mountain, a large mountainous area in which you're accompanied by Bobby the Bob-omb. Proceeding that, fans get a quick look at Shogun Studios, a "ninja-esque theme park" as the announcer describes it.

Perhaps the most visually pleasing area shown in the whole trailer is Scorching Sandpaper Desert, a purple desert that seems to be cursed with eternal darkness and nighttime. The land is filling with ancient runes, and a mining facility with a Boot Car that can be used to traverse the area. The desert directly connects to Snif City, an exciting Las Vegas-like city that is populated by Snifits.

Fans then got a good look at The Great Sea, which is exactly as it sounds like: an open-world ocean that can be easily explored by Mario in his boat. Much of the world appears to be very open, but the sea looks more so than any other area. Mario will come across Princess Peach's ship, which is deserted but may lead to clues about her disappearance. Players then got a look at The Jungle, which contains a giant mystical tree and wild chain-chomps. The area directly connects to Shangri-Spa, a spa resort filled with White Toads and surely other clues to your quest.

The game is very visually striking, with this trailer showing off its beautiful art style more than ever before. Areas with bright colors, such as Snif City and Scorching Sandpaper Desert, show this off the best, but every area shown looks incredibly visually pleasing. Fans also get some additional quick looks at the combat system in The Origami King, which while looking different from older games in the franchise, still looks very fun and interesting. How the game will play still remains to be seen, but if early reviews are anything to go by, the game is sure to be a blast to experience.

Paper Mario: The Origami King releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 17, 2020.
