The information that a Panzer Dragoon remake will be coming to Switch was revealed by way of a brief trailer during this morning's Nintendo Direct. As indicated by the company, the remake of Panzer Dragoon will be "true to the original" but will feature "improved graphics and controls." Despite the brevity of the Panzer Dragoon remake trailer shown today, the revamped visuals referenced by Nintendo are certain to be immediately apparent to fans of the original game.

Additionally, the Panzer Dragoon remake trailer from the Nintendo E3 2019 Direct offers a release window for the title as well. While not as specific as an exact Panzer Dragoon remake release date, fans can now expect to get their hands on the title "this winter," and this statement is certain to be further clarified in the upcoming months.

For the uninitiated, Panzer Dragoon is a rail shooter game that was initially released for Sega Saturn in 1995. In the title, players are given access to a powerful dragon, which they ride and use to mount an offensive assault. This game marked the beginning of the Panzer Dragoon series, which now consists of six titles, and it set the foundation for the gameplay that would be used across all of them, aside from Panzer Dragoon Saga.

At the end of last year, Forever Entertainment announced that it was working on a remake of both Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, but there were no platforms pinned for the remakes at that time.
