Namco Bandai is serving up a double dose of re-imagined retro classics in Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions for the 3DS. Despite what you might be guessing, gamers won't be playing as Pac-Man flying the starship from Galaga and shooting down ghosts.

No, Namco will be giving us two separate games on one card. Dimensions will offer a brand new 3D gaming experience putting the gamer right in the cockpit of Galaga 3D Impact, while Pac-Man once again receives arms and legs in Pac-Man Tilt.

Galaga 3D Impact is an on-rails shooter – very similar to Star Fox – where the player tilts the 3DS to aim. All the action takes place from inside the cockpit of your starfighter, instead of the overhead camera angle from previous titles. Currently there is no confirmation if gamers can use the joystick in lieu of the tilt controls, and one will hope that Namco includes the option to turn off the tilt.

Many would think that after the runaway success of Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, that a 3D iteration of the franchise would be a no-brainer. While a 3DS port of the game could still happen - it won't be in the form of Pac-Man Tilt.

Pac-Man Tilt will be a side scrolling platformer, with the ghost gobbler himself donning some appendages to help him out. It is unknown if motion controls will control Pac-Man, though we do know that players can control the environment he is in by tilting the 3DS. There is no doubt that there will be plenty of puzzles that will require the player to tilt the 3DS.

There's no word if gamers can unlock the classic versions of these games, however the launch is still a ways off. A 3D version of the classic arcade games would be sweet.

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions does not have a confirmed released date, and while it could be a launch title, at this point its doubtful - until we get official word from Namco.

How do you feel about Pac-Man and Galaga getting motion controls?
