Fans of Persona 5 could be in for another new spin-off title if recent rumors and a new domain registration are any indications. The Japanese domain for P5T.jp was recently registered, but without any publicly available ownership, it's unclear who this domain actually belongs to. However, developer Atlus has a history of using this naming convention for its Persona games when registering its online domains, leading fans of the series to speculate that a new spin-off entry could be in the works alongside the developer's other rumored projects.

Persona 5 is no stranger to receiving spin-off titles as the popular entry in the series has seen games like Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and Persona 5 Strikers, as well as the enhanced version of the original game Persona 5 Royal release in recent years. Additionally, the series is also getting the mobile title Persona 5: The Phantom X, which debuted in a closed beta exclusive to China in late March of this year. While it seems like Atlus has a lot on its plate with the rumors of a Persona 3 remake incoming alongside the development of the next mainline entry in the Persona series, it's entirely possible the developer is not yet done with Persona 5 spin-offs.

P5T Could Hint at a Global Release for Persona 5: The Phantom X

Persona 5: The Phantom X may have just had its first closed beta, but the game was first announced back in April 2021 under the working title Code Name: X. The game is being developed by Black Wings Game Studio and published by Perfect World Games with heavy input from Sega and Atlus, and has so far only been announced for release in China. While it hasn't been announced for a global release, it's possible that the P5T domain could be Atlus' way of preparing for an announcement of a launch outside of China.

While this domain could be a hint towards Persona 5: The Phantom X's worldwide release, it would make more sense to register the P5X domain to align with the rest of the game's branding if that were the case. However, it is possible that the game will be localized with a different title for different regions that would justify the P5T domain name. Many fans are hopeful that Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released in other regions as the game looks to deliver an experience on par with the original Persona 5, only in a mobile format featuring a host of new characters and dungeons.

P5T Could Be an Unannounced Game

With Persona 5: The Phantom X seeming to conflict with the branding implications of P5T, it's also very possible that the domain name is in reference to an unannounced Persona 5 spin-off title. The "T" in the domain suggests the title could be Persona 5 Tactics and feature gameplay similar to another Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series, Devil Survivor. With the popularity of tactics games like Fire Emblem and the existing fan-favorite Persona 5 cast, a game of a similar caliber featuring the Persona 5 crew seems like a smash hit in the making.

Rather, there is also the distinct possibility that this domain registration is not related to Persona 5 or Atlus in any way since there is no way to verify the owner. It's also possible that Atlus registered the domain but not for any specific new title and only with the intention of sitting on the domain so that others can't use it, as Atlus has done before with domains like P5B, P5U, and P5M which never saw anything come from their registration. Until something official comes from Atlus, fans can only speculate whether more Persona 5 content is really in the works.

Persona 5 Royal is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
