The Mega Man series is one of the most memorable franchises that has ever been produced by Capcom. The platforming series has spawned numerous different iterations of the blue bomber, with the hero fighting against evil robots in each. One creator and fan of the Mega Man series looked to a more obscure title, with a fun experiment of what a possible remake for it could look like in his style.

Simon S. Andersen, or snakepixel on Twitter, is an independent game developer and pixel artist. One of his most successful titles was Owlboy, a story-driven platforming adventure where a mute owl named Otus explores high above the clouds to the open-skies. Owlboy had spent nine years being developed by Andersen, where he was working through multiple different incidents that affected his personal state during development. Despite this, it was a game that survived development hell and was released to critical acclaim. Andersen's love for pixel art allows for some breathtaking visuals, especially if it's applied to a Mega Man game.

Andersen posted a very brief clip of the experiment that he was working on to Twitter, which is a remake of the Mega Man games released on the DOS. One was simply titled Mega Man while the other one was Mega Man 3: The Robots are Revolting. These games had an uneven number of Robot Master bosses, so Andersen decided that a remake should combine the two games' boss roster into one. This can be seen with the redesigned robots and the mockup menu showing them off.

This is followed by a brief gameplay mockup for the stage of Robot Master "Dyna Man." The dynamic sprite work created for this mockup is beautiful, showing Mega Man running across a rocky canyon while the sun sets in the background. The music and sound effects were also recreated for clip, capturing the tone and feel of a Mega Man game. According to the video description, the aim was to make the resolution somewhere in-between the SNES and PS1 Mega Man games.

Despite how polished and amazing the remake mockup looks, Andersen says this experiment isn't truly in development and was only shown as a fun showcase. Fans expressed their love for the designs and animations used in the clip, with many commenting about how they wish this was an official product. Some fans are also waiting for details on a potential new Mega Man entry that was leaked during the Capcom hack last year, but nothing new has come up regarding the Mega Man franchise at the time of writing.
