This weekend marked the Overwatch League grand finals, where fans of the game--and its associated esports league--gathered in Philadelphia to watch the best teams face off. During the grand finals' opening ceremony, DJ and music producer Zedd took the stage for a performance, accompanied by a clip of Widowmaker sporting a new unreleased skin.

It's the second year for the Overwatch League's championship series, and the pro team San Francisco Shock handily beat the Vancouver Titans in a 4-0 match earlier today. But it was Zedd's performance that dropped a hint for Overwatch players to be hopeful about.

Widowmaker's new look was met with wild excitement, both from the crowd and in the Twitch chat. A short video featuring Zedd's logo aired just before the performance, with Widowmaker zipping into view via grappling hook while sporting a bright teal and pink skin. The new uniform also sported Zedd's logo on the side and scope of her Widow's Kiss gun, while Widowmaker herself had the logo tattooed on her back. All in all, fans got an extremely quick glimpse of the Widowmaker-Zedd skin--but it was enough for requests to start pouring in from fans, asking Blizzard to put the skin in Overwatch.

As of right now, the teaser was just that; it served as an opening for the Zedd performance, with no announced plans to do anything more than playing it at the championships. Of course, it was a pretty neat concept, and the first time the Overwatch team did something like that for a performer (DJ Khaled didn't get any special skins last year). If this Widowmaker skin is released into the game it'll be the first to represent a musical performance, where previous special skins have only commemorated Overwatch League teams and players...and even LEGOs.

While it's clear some Overwatch players would love to get their hands on a Zedd skin for Widowmaker, Blizzard will have to make that call for itself in the future. For now, fans will always have that 30-second championship clip on Twitch. And in the meantime, there are plenty of stylish Overwatch skins to check out.

Overwatch is available to play on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
