Many of the biggest Xbox One games have received sizable updates to give them 4K resolution support and other enhancements when played on Xbox One X. Unsurprisingly, more games are in line to receive Xbox One X updates, with Blizzard preparing a patch for its popular hero shooter Overwatch that will give it 4K resolution when played on Microsoft's latest console.

According to Blizzard, an Xbox One X update is already in the works for Overwatch, though the studio stopped short of providing a specific date it will be available. Right now, the team is working to make sure the game's user interface still looks correct when playing it in 4K resolution, and is also exploring other ways the game experience can be enhanced with the more powerful hardware.

While Blizzard didn't announce an exact release date for Overwatch's Xbox One X patch, it's likely that it will coincide with other updates for the game. Other developers have bundled their Xbox One X updates with additional fixes and tweaks to their games, and if Blizzard follows suit, perhaps Overwatch's Xbox One X enhancements will come with the addition of new support hero Moira or the Blizzard World map in 2018.

Then again, Blizzard may opt to release the Xbox One X update separately, considering the sheer size some of the updates have been. While some Xbox One X updates have been fairly reasonable, the updates for other games have been massive, with Quantum Break's file size rising to 178GB, for example.

Of course, that's just speculation at this time. Until Blizzard itself decides to divulge more information, all fans can do is guess as to when they will see Overwatch's Xbox One X enhancements and whether or not it will be bundled with some of the other bigger content updates in store for the game.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
