With so many heroes and different abilities available, there is no shortage of clever Overwatch combinations. Players are always looking for flashy ways to combine their abilities, and the latest group of Overwatch players have found a way to make Bastion fly.

For a while, many wondered if Bastion’s Overwatch 2 rework would see him getting a new form that turned him into a helicopter. However, this did not happen, as instead he will become mobile while in turret form and get some new abilities. While there is no denying that Bastion’s changes look promising, as he should be a whole lot more effective in the sequel, one group of players has worked together to give him a new ability in the original game.

Posted by Redditor McMagicMarv, the trick in question requires that players are on the Overwatch map Oasis. Both Mei and Symmetra are necessary as well, as the two damage heroes need to combine their abilities to make flying Bastion a reality. On Oasis, there is a jump pad on one side of the map that lets players boost themselves up to a higher level. Once here, they can use the vantage point to gun down enemies on the point below. Normally, Symmetra cannot place a teleporter on a jump pad, but with the help of Mei, it becomes possible.

Mei fans looking to replicate the glitch will need to place an ice wall above the jump pad. When on top, Symmetra needs to set her teleporter in the correct position so that it falls onto the jump pad once the ice wall melts. Once the teleporter is placed, Bastion will be able to fly. As shown in the clip, once he hits the jump pad and goes through the teleporter, the momentum will carry after the teleportation. This means that he will still be launching upwards after teleporting, with the robotic turret seen soaring in the sky.

Part of what makes this Overwatch trick so neat is that it could actually have some use. While it is unlikely to be used often due to the amount of setup that is required, Bastion does have a brief window of time to shoot down at the enemies below. If the robot lands shots on the weaker targets, he could sway the fight, as nobody would he expecting to see Bastion in mid-air. A nice touch sees Reinhardt following Bastion in the clip, shielding the character much like he would if they were on the ground.

Overall, this Overwatch video is a ton of fun, and it makes sense that it has brought in over 1,700 upvotes since it was posted. While plenty of players share neat tricks on the game’s subreddit, this one could prove very effective if it is set up quickly.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
