In Overwatch matches, support characters are some of the most important characters on the team, if not the most important. Unfortunately, it's mostly a thankless job that often doesn't get acknowledged as much as it could be. One Overwatch tank player took the time to thank their support player after pulling them into a group chat in-game with wholesome messages.

Overwatch is a team-based, multiplayer shooting game with iconic characters all with unique backstories. Tank players hold the role of taking most of the damage and protecting allies while support characters support the team with healing and buffs, while also providing utilities to help the team increase their survivability, damage input, and speed. Overwatch 2 is the newest installment in the franchise and is currently in beta.

Reddit user KatherineBrain posted a screenshot of their interaction with their team's tank on the Overwatch subreddit. The image shows the interaction between them and the tank where the tank shares a wholesome set of messages thanking them for their work as a support character on the team. The tank credits them and the team's Ana for the eliminations and damage output the tank achieved during the match. It's not shown who played which Overwatch hero, but the tank ends by wishing the support good luck in their games.

According to the comments as well as the screenshot of the chatbox itself, there was a double-healer combo supporting the team, especially this tank player. In Overwatch, two supports, especially those that have complementing abilities that will both heal and support damage and stats like that, can make a match feel a bit more balanced depending on how well the players used them. Role queue in Overwatch 2 requires every team to have 1 tank, 2 DPS heroes, and 2 supports, but other game modes make it possible for players to have more or less supports. It's clear that these Overwatch support players did a great job at keeping their team, especially this tank, alive to do about 20k damage and 47 eliminations.

Seeing this kind of interaction in a game like Overwatch where some players can be pretty competitive is very wholesome, especially since playing support is often a thankless job. Recent changes to Moira could impact support performance, but support mains can always look to this interaction and know their work is always appreciated even if it's not acknowledged often.

Playing as a team is a big part of Overwatch and when players acknowledge their teammate's work and support during the match it can be motivating for them and the whole team. With new and interesting things coming with Overwatch 2 there is only more for fans to experience as a team and individually to enjoy the game together.

Overwatch 2 is scheduled to release on October 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
