Many Overwatch fans have been waiting all summer for Overwatch's Summer Games event to begin. This event gives players access to an event-exclusive arcade mode known as Lucio Ball as well as many new legendary skins to equip during battle.

The main themes of Overwatch's Summer Games skins are sports and summer fun. In previous years, Tracer had gotten two track themed skins, Soldier 76 had a backyard barbecue themed skin, and D.Va got a wave racing skin as just a few examples. The new skins already shown for this year's event are no different in fun summer theming.

One of the new skins shown off by Blizzard is a legendary skin for Overwatch's newest hero, Echo. It is called Surf's Up and has Echo equipped with surfboard wings and water flowing through her body like a water-cooled PC.

This tweet additionally has the release date of 2020's Summer Games event with it starting tomorrow on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020. The video itself also reveals the end date of the event as well, with it being August 25th, 2020.

With Echo's new skin, she is given "hair" that seems to be made out of water, with bubbles coming out of it and it being lit like the rest of the water in Echo's body. It additionally has physics that cause it to move with Echo.

Like other Summer Games legendary skins being released this year, players will be able to get them randomly from event lootboxes that drop during this event. Summer Games lootboxes from previous years will not hold any of the new content in them, due to all lootboxes having their contents decided for them upon players receiving them, not when they are opened.

Players that don't want to bother with opening lootboxes can purchase these skins directly from the hero gallery with 3000 credits. They can additionally purchase legendary skins from previous years' Summer Games events for 1000 credits during the event.

Blizzard is likely going to release footage of the new legendary event skins through the official Overwatch Twitter page up until the event begins. Other skins, such as the prizes for the event's weekly challenges, are also likely to be shown to encourage players to participate in the challenges like Sigma's Maestro Challenge from a few weeks ago where players could win a special legendary skin and emote for Sigma.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
