While Overwatch has never had a crossover with a non-Blizzard property, and likely never will, some fans are still hoping that it will eventually happen. If it does, one Overwatch player clearly wants to see an outfit inspired by the hit Netflix series Squid Game.

While the Overwatch crossover concept could have focused on the Front Man, a character dressed entirely in black with a unique hood and mask, a player instead decided to take inspiration from the Soldiers. Dressed entirely in pink, these Soldiers stay anonymous by wearing three different masks. The shapes made it clear what their rank is, with circles, triangles, and squares used to establish each Soldier’s position. This has made for an iconic look, with even those who have not seen the show likely recognizing the outfit.

Redditor meme_review_holster brought some Squid Game-inspired outfits to Overwatch with a simple adjustment to the Ana skin called Shrike. Not only does the outfit boast a hood like the ones worn by Squid Game’s soldiers, but it features a shape on the mask. With a triangle already present, albeit upside down, meme_review_holster then makes a circle and square masks. They have the same open corners as Ana’s normal Shrike mask, which is a nice touch. The fan then lines them up together, making it look like a group of Soldiers.

While this is an extremely simple rework, it is effective, and it serves as a great start to a fully realized Soldier outfit. The top comment on the post was from Reddit user goshozome, who wonders if the in-game version of the skin would be pink. To properly capture the Soldier’s look, Ana’s outfit would certainly benefit from a pink recolor. With the different symbols and a brighter color scheme, the Ana skin concept would make a terrific outfit for Overwatch’s upcoming Halloween Terror event.

It would be interesting to see how Blizzard would make the three different shapes work, though one possible solution can be seen with Sombra’s Face Changer outfit. Like the name suggests, Sombra consistently swaps masks whenever this skin is worn, making it stand out from any others in the game. Ana could do the same, spawning in with a different mask on each life. She could also change masks after each elimination or a certain amount of healing, “ranking up” to triangle or square. Regardless, the fan’s skin suggestion is a good one, and the edit shows that such an idea could work.

If an Overwatch ever did crossover with the wildly popular Squid Games, it is easy to imagine Workshop modes where players roleplay and live out some of the games. While it will likely never happen, Ana’s Shrike outfit already has a triangle mask, so this may be all that players need to bring the games to the world of Blizzard’s hero shooter.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
