An eagle-eyed Overwatch player notices a curious screenshot on Blizzard’s website, which appears to be another clue in the mystery of Sombra.

Overwatch is one of the most popular shooters on the market right now. About a week ago Blizzard introduced the Summer Games series, which brought a number of Olympics inspired content including the soccer-like Lucio Ball. However, many Overwatch players have been playing an entirely different kind of game lately: the augmented reality game which centers on the mystery of Sombra.

Players have yet to unlock the Sombra mystery, though many believe that Sombra will be the next playable character to be added to the game. A major clue was discovered a few days ago when eagle eyed Overwatch fans noticed a bit of code that was hidden in the origins trailer. While that code has yet to be cracked, a new clue to the mystery behind Sombra was discovered.

Yesterday, a player going by the name Autumnatopoeia, noticed a new image in Blizzard’s gallery of Overwatch Screenshots. The picture was a shot of the Dorado map from the game, however the picture colors appear to be warped, and a series of strange lines run along the top of the picture.

Overwatch sleuths immediately jumped on the picture, comparing it to the normal version of the screenshot and determining that the new screenshot had been “datamoshed”, which is the intentional use of digital artifacts and glitches in a picture or video. Running the picture through a decoding program revealed a message in Spanish which translates to:

"Why do you look to the sky? The answer is not above your heads, it's behind you. Sometimes, you need to analyze your previous achievements."

Though the hint is certainly cryptic it does seem to be directly referencing a previous clue that was known as the “sky code”. However, with this new clue it seems that Blizzard is telling its players that the truth behind Sombra does not lie in the sky above, but much closer than they think.

Fans of Overwatch are clearly keen to find out everything they can about Sombra and what kind of character they will be. The last new character to be added to the game was the sniper character Ana, who was added at the beginning of July.

Until Overwatch players can finish decoding the various clues scattered throughout the game and Internet, the mysteries behind Sombra will remain just that, though it does appear that the Internet sleuths are on the right track. 2 months ago Jeff Kaplan, the game's director, suggested in a recent interview that the clues about Sombra are definitely out there. So let’s hope the Overwatch sleuths can crack this case open soon.

Overwatch is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
